Global trade is a complex system with international value chains. Do you know where your raw materials come from? Or what about the working conditions of your suppliers? Customers, financial relations and legal regulations increasingly demand transparency in the supply chain.

At Baker Tilly, we help SMEs make their supply chains transparent and manageable. Our approach is practical, targeted and delivers immediate benefits:

  • Stronger customer relationships: show that you take responsibility and meet the expectations of customers and financial relations.

  • Prepared for legislation and regulations: comply with EUDR, CSRD, EU Taxonomy and CSDD.

  • Lower risks: gain insight into human and environmental risks and avoid reputational damage.

  • Efficient policy: make clear agreements with suppliers and organise processes intelligently.

  • Competitive advantage: stand out as a reliable and sustainable player in your market.

We guide you step by step in a way that fits with your organisation. Together, we build a future-proof supply chain so you can do business with confidence.

Ready for the European deforestation law?

As of the end of 2025, companies trading products such as coffee, cocoa, wood, soy, beef, palm oil or rubber must be able to demonstrate that their chain is free of deforestation and biodiversity loss. The EU Deforestation Regulation (EUDR), formally known as the ‘EU Regulation on Deforestation-free products’, sets stricter requirements on transparency and sourcing of raw materials, including for SMEs.

What does this mean for you as an entrepreneur?

You need to know exactly where your products come from, check geolocation data, conduct risk analysis, and prepare or collect due diligence statements. That sounds complex, and it is. Baker Tilly helps you with:

  • Determining whether, and as of when, the EUDR applies to your organisation.

  • Mapping whether you are classified as a trader or operator and what the obligations are.

  • Taking the right steps, tailored to your role and company size.

  • Avoiding fines, trade bans and reputational damage.

  • Saving time and capacity with an efficient approach.

Practical approach to Human Rights Due Diligence (HRDD)

Many SMEs want to be socially responsible but wonder: where do I start? How do I get a handle on human rights in my supply chain? And how do I get suppliers to move with me?

Human Rights Due Diligence (HRDD) is the process by which you identify, prevent and address risks of human rights violations in your value chain. It is an important tool to make your supply chain transparent and future-proof.

Managing human rights risks in six steps

We work with the six internationally recognised steps from the OECD guidelines. These form a practical and internationally supported framework that companies can use to map their supply chain and take targeted action on human rights risks.

Start with a risk analysis of your value chain
Do you want insight into human rights in your supply chain? Start with a risk analysis with our sustainability experts. Together, we map your value chain and identify key risks. We do this in interactive sessions with your team, practical templates and tools. No thick reports, but a clear list of priorities that we translate into concrete policies and clear supplier terms.

The next steps
Based on the priority list from the risk analysis, you will prepare a mitigation plan, communicate with stakeholders and take remedial action where necessary. Baker Tilly provides support throughout the process.

Support with policy and supplier agreements
Do you want to know if your human rights policy or Supplier Code of Conduct meets the (legal) requirements? We do a gap analysis of your current policies and help you draft or update policies that are not only right on paper, but also actually work in practice.
