Dutch Tax Authorities change bank account: beware of phishing and changed payment details

The Dutch Tax Authorities will soon switch to a new bank. This means that all tax payments to and from the Tax Authorities and the Benefits Office (‘Dienst Toeslagen’) will be processed via a new bank account number as of 1 May 2026.

Our experts explain what this means for your administration and payments, and where you can find more information about this change.

Tax Authorities switches from ING to Rabobank

The Ministry of Finance periodically re‑tenders the provision of payment services. For many years, payments were processed via the ING bank. From 1 May 2026 onwards, the Rabobank will handle payment transactions for both the Dutch Tax Authorities and the Benefits Office.

You can find further information on the Dutch Tax Authorities’ website.

Beware of phishing and fraud

A change in bank details may increase the risk of phishing and fraud. Please be especially vigilant  when receiving unexpected or suspicious payment requests. Always verify that you are using the correct bank account number.

If you are in doubt, you can consult the list of official bank account numbers on the Dutch Tax Authorities’ website, or ask your Baker Tilly advisor for assistance.

Update your payment systems in time

In principle, nothing will change until 1 May 2026. But you may need to adjust your administrative systems or payments as of that date. Make sure you do this on time and correctly to avoid missed deadlines or payment delays.

Also, check whether you have saved the Dutch Tax Authorities’ account details in your bank’s address book. Update it in good time to prevent accidental use of the old number.

For example, if you are a director ‑ major shareholder (‘dga’) and make a fixed monthly payment for wage taxes, you’ll need to use the new bank details for payments from 1 May 2026 onwards. This may mean adjusting certain pre‑scheduled payments. Keep an eye on the Dutch Tax Authority’s communications on this topic.

If you receive a benefit payment or a refund from the Dutch Tax Authorities, this will also be transferred from a different bank account number as of 1 May 2026.

Want to know more about this change?

The Dutch Tax Authorities’ website offers more information about the transition, including the new bank details. These new payment details will also appear on all correspondence from the Dutch Tax Authority from 1 May 2026 onwards.

If you have questions or are unsure about a payment or payment request, always check the Dutch Tax Authorities’ website.

The legislation and regulations in this area may be subject to change. We recommend that you discuss the potential impact of this with your Baker Tilly advisor.
